Welcome to Potion Handmade!

Potion Handmade - Next Level Green Skincare, Eco Beauty, Holistic Lifestyle

Hello, and welcome to Potion Handmade’s online boutique! I hope you enjoy this beautiful website created by my amazingly talented friend, Tina Link. I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope you find something of use and value within our offerings. Our aim is to be your #1 resource for all-natural potions for all people. It’s been a fun journey to get to the point of actually making and selling my products.

As of Fall 2017, Potion’s Manager, Kate, and I  have spent over a year lining up all manner of ducks in a row in preparation for selling online and at a few markets in Los Angeles. We are on the precipice of launching this delicately and lovingly nurtured business sometime in early winter 2017, and we are pumped.

The reason I started Potion (way back before I even knew it would be a “thing”) is because I had (and still have) very high standard for products that I put on my face and body. I began digging into ingredients, doing a deep dive in EWG.org’s Skin Deep database and was increasingly uncomfortable with what I would find. Plus, my skin was perpetually dry and flaky and would occasionally break out. I had tried every natural (and pseudo-natural/nearly natural) skincare product I could find but none could solve my problems.

So, I did what I often do, I solved my own problems! Because I’m scrappy like that, I started tinkering with items I had in my pantry and fridge, whipping up early potions for myself. That process simply snowballed until I realized I  was onto something special, and it hit me; these things are darn good!

Then the hard work began. Developing formulas is not for the un-motivated. It has taken me hundreds and hundreds of hours educating myself on the purposes of botanical oils and extracts so I could turn my ideas into something tangible. And then I would test them on myself, my family, and friends to make sure my creations worked. I have come a long way, and my education is ongoing. I welcome your feedback, as I consider that an important part of my learning process as a maker and entrepreneur. Thanks for taking the time to read and shop!

P.S. - This first blog post is dedicated to my friend, Kendahl King, who passed away at too young an age earlier this year. She continues to inspire me to (in her words) “bloom daily.”

Sincerely,

Carmen Wolf, Potion Handmade's Founder & President
